Town center transport and pedestrian study:
Like many English towns dating back centuries the streets, footpaths and the spaces they connect are unable to accomodate the volume of traffic and pedestrians.
The objective of this study was identify how to reduce confict by addressing circulation patterns of both foot and vehicle traffic while maximising spatial opportunities within the confines of a town center that was granted Royal Charter in 1310.

Town center spatial study and design proposal:
The first objective of this study was to address physical barriers effecting pedestrian flow between two retail areas either side of a railway line and highway. The second objective was to break the linearity of the the four blocks and creating a central space by addressing traffic circulation. The third objective was to provide a proposal that drew on the towns historical context.

A194 Gateway Project:
An urban design project that received a city Commendation award. Designed within the confines of a roundabout, asymmetrical lines of Lavender were planted to provide pattern and color to approaching drivers. The direction of the lines corresponded to the direction of traffic. To compliment the color of the plants York stone was placed in gabions to form a retaining wall as the center space had to remain at grade to allow access to services below ground.
